It was with great astonishment and sadness that I learned of Art Rozier's preciptious departure from our earthbound ranks. It's times like this that one realizes how fickle life can be.
When Art first took over from Larry Hoff, I had some concerns, as those were some pretty big shoes to fill, but those concerns were unfounded. Art definitely stepped up to the plate, and left his own mark on the AFJROTC program, the Lt. Helton Memorial Foundation, and within our community. He, like Larry Hoff, was a precious resource whom I will miss, both professionally and personally.
From our Inaugural run in 2014, to our 5th annual this year in 2018, we have been blessed with some steadfast sponsors and loyal runners. This year at the Monroe Bicentennial on November 12, there will be a formal dedication of the Walton County Veterans Park, and a finished Fallen Heroes Memorial pedestal - the fruits of your donations!
In Celebration of Police Week 2018, the 6th SFS of MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida, is hosting an Open Golf Tournament to benefit the Lt. Helton Memorial Foundation on Thursday, May 24. $40 registration fee includes green fees, cart rental, beverages, snacks, lunch, and hole contests to inclue a $10k Hole-in-One!
It's April! Don't miss out on the early bird registration and ensure your T-shirt! Last year's was a hit - we sold all but a couple of XXL! (we won't order so many of those, this year!) The following link will take you to registration at > RunSignUp.com <.
Coming October 13, 2017
Once again, everyone came through for the Flat Joe 5k. Despite the threatening weather, we had a record number of participants in the 1 mile, and we had over 100 runners in the 5k this year! Yeah! The majority of the participants were Flat Joe 5k race veterans, and for some, this was their fourth year. This event feels more and more like a family reunion every year!
The AFJROTC is headed to Covington today. They are hosting a Precision Pistol Outdoor Tournament, individual and team events: the Dr. Bill Davis Memorial Service and Team Event.
Since I really know nothing about pistol/gun tournaments, click here to read more information, the documentation and download the application. If this is your gig, hope to see you there!
